So, I guess I'm here?!

View from the hotel in Toledo

First off, Spain is unbelievably picturesque! I have found myself admiring every building, street, lamp post, tiny shops, fountains, benches, trees, everything. We spent the first couple days in Madrid in a beautiful hotel, one night we went to Gula Gula (a drag show). It was great/hilarious! Also went to the Prado Museum and the Royal Palace which were beautiful! After Madrid we took a bus to Toledo, where we went on a walking tour and then spent the afternoon at the pool, which was perfect! The view from the hotel in Toledo was unbelieveable! We only spent one night in Toledo, in the morning we left for Granada. The bus ride was four hours! We met our señora and thus begins our real adventure in Granada!!! Walking from where the bus dropped us off to our apartment was quite the work out. Especially in the heat! Over the past few days, my roommate (Mikaela) and I, have discovered our señoras love for Telenovelas (Spanish soap operas) and for talking on the telephone. Everytime there is a handsome man on the tv she says "Oh, muy guapo, muy guapo". Mikaela and I always agree. (: Over the past week or so I have spent in Spain, I have done so much. It feels like I have lived here for my whole life, except that I don't speak much Spanish and I don't know the whole city!
First night out con mis amigos!
Noms in Toledo.
Let me talk about food for a minute folks. This picture above was the second part of a meal that some friends and I ate in Toledo, there is some ham, chees, a piece of bread with lettuce on it and the orange soupy stuff in a cup is called Gazpacho, a typical spanish food during the summer. The food here is excellent, however, I do not eat seafood! So it has been interesting and sort of hard to avoid. My señora knows that I do not eat fish so she has been serving me things without fish! Which is great for me! Today however I found out that fish is not all encompassing for seafood, and for lunch we had something  and it had baby shrimps and little oyster shells. My señora dug out the pieces of shellfish and gave it back to me...eeee...nom nom nom! (: Anyways, breakfast I have been eating around 8:30 because I have class at 10:00am until 2:00pm (Which is 3:00am to 7:00am Illinois time!). When I get home around 2:30 is typical Spanish lunchtime and then dinner is served at 9:30. Woahh! Dinner at 9:30 you say! That's what I said too! However, it is getting easier to eat that late and my stomach isn't growling at 6:00pm anymore!
Beach in Salobreña. The rock where people jumped off!

I think I have sort of caught you up with my life! Yesterday we went to the beach in Salobreña, Spain, on the Mediterranean Sea (I know, its a rough life around here having to spend a weekend at the beach on the Mediterranean :P). We took the bus there at 10:00am. It was about 45 minute bus ride. It was absolutey gorgeous in Salobreña. The beach was made of tiny rocks, not sand. The water was salty and perfect. Everything was great. There were a bunch of perfect skipping rocks. We swam around alot of the day, after swimming in very salty water, it was very hard to get out! Being in that much salt water you float very well! The weight of my body seemed to double while dragging myself out of the salt water! It is a strange feeling! We spent all day laying around at the beach, we also went to a little cafe where a couple friends ordered Paella. Then back to the beach and everyone went cliff jumping EXCEPT ME! (: Sorry guys, I am no daredevil. I did walk up to the top of the rock that everyone jumped off of though. It was very high! Some people said it seemed about 25/30 feet to the water. I thought I was going to fall in just navigating the rock to get to the top where everyone jumped off. It was a great day, and it has been a great week!
Me in Salobreña. I just don't want you guys to forget my face!

I have done alot more than what I have posted in this blog. (Alhambra, Flamenco dancing show, wandered Granada, gone to tapas, gone to school for the first 2 days!, and so much more!) There is just too much for one post! Thanks for reading if you did! I will post more, in a more timely fashion, so that my posts aren't so long. Also, I am working on my writing skills, I hope it wasn't too bad of a read!
